poon
I had a fully working installation on a HP DC7100 sff, but after installing updates for iTunes and Quicktime it didn't start after a reboot. So I made installation again but without formatting the disk, so all my files are still installed as before. But the finder doesn't start now, and I can't emty or open the trash, and all objects on the workbench has disappeared. I don't know what has happened or to get it back as before. I hope there is someone out here that had the same experience. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3692-finder-will-not-start/ Share on other sites
humasect
Installing the updates directly on an X86 10.4.1 system causes the requirement of a complete reinstall. If you need those, the only solution right now is to copy the updated files from a PPC OSX system whose QuickTime and/or iTunes is updated. But AFAIK there are side effects of still having the older QuickTime player. Have not tried this myself. You could try "Archive & Install" during your next system install and recover your personal files from there.
