Juno360
Merry Christmas y'all! OK so I installed 10.4.6 JAS DVD then the 10.4.8 Jas update SSE3 options in both cases. Now when I try and update the kernel to semthex's new kernel, the computer hangs at the Grey apple logo screen. It shows a little no entry sign then hangs. When I tried booting up with "-v" option, it says several files are missing eg. com.apple.....etc Do I need to do more than just update the kernel file? Thanks in Advance! eGWan
perhaps you are using jas 1048 update for 8.4.1 kernel There are many thread telling you how to upgrade to 1048, just check Rammjet's signature Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36860-semthex-kernel-does-not-boot/#findComment-262049 Share on other sites
Juno360
Sorry, I'm not quite sure I understand So the Jas update was incorrect? BTW is it that I'm missing the kext(s) for the new kernel? Thats why the new kernel does not boot? Rammjet
The JaS Combo SSE3 update is for the old kernel. When you want to update to the new kernel, you still need some files from the Apple update. Follow the 10.4.8 link in my signature for ways to update to 10.4.8 with the new kernel.
