first off, 10.4.1 is veeeery old.

Seeing how you allready got your hands on 10.4.1 i asume you know how and where to look for a newer release.

My suggestions are 10.4.8, or 10.4.6 and update it to 10.4.8 :hysterical: (JaS's 10.4.x Install DVD i.e)

The flat image you are thinking of, is preinstalled 6gb partition that you "dd" over to your drive iirc.

Makes it unable to resize and such.

Im sure the grey stop-logo will be removed if you try a newer release with more hardware support.

allso before you start downloading, please find out weither your cpu support sse2, or sse3 (3 would be great).

Then download the release best matched with your system.
