I have a beautifull 20 inch hd redy samsung lcd as my pc monistor and in windows my res is 1440x900!!(lovely) well in osx86(with darwin) i can only acheive 1024x768!!!(damn ) And yes ive done the command at the darwin startup option bit to change it makes absolutely no difference!!
