yes, my specs are almost the same (1gig RAM, 40Gb IDE + 250 SATA and a Ati 9800 pro :rolleyes: )

I've had success installing on both an IDE and SATA HD.

followed this guide

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339

- Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack

Definitely need Arconis DiskDirector

I had a bit of trouble installing on my SATA drive b/c *I think* something goes screwy with the ViaRhine.kext and the AppleVIAATA.kext b/c if I don't delete the Extensions.kextcache/Extensions.mkext, I get a "still looking for root"/no boot on startup. The only way to fix it is to either a) manually remove the Extensions.kextcache/Extensions.mkext EVERY time I start up or :thumbsdown_anim: if I forget, go into my IDE os x install (yes, 2 installs) and by navigating into the OSX SATA drive remove the caches manually.

Anyone have a solution to this?

Working - Callisto b008, Agpgart2.2 (no QE...yet), DVD drives (both IDE and my brand new SATA one :rolleyes: )

Iffy - ViaRhine.kext (driver conflict?), USB (mouse works w/ the driver from apple's website MAKE sure you install using a PS/2 mouse/keyboard)

Feel free to PM w/ questions

thanks for the reply, just to make sure

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-f</string> <- HERE?

</dict>

</plist>

and I have to ask what does -f mean? (better not mean self-destruct =D )

Can/How to put in -v too? Add another string line? Rather know if something is wrong text-wise than getting it visual wise(no boot apple)

Yes that is where you put it in. If you wanted to add -v you would just go:

<string>-f -v</string>

-f means that the system will not look to the kext caches during the startup. Instead it will read all of the kext files individually, which is what it is doing when you delete your kext caches. It is slightly slower, but it should fix your problem.

hello sir. thnx for the reply, just curious too. do you have the same pt880 chipset too?

should i use the 10.4.6 hotiso pack?

thnx

thestevo - thanks, Will test upon next reboot ;)

notinthisworld - yes, MSI pt800 neo-lsr (the only type sold in the US).

I can't say if the 10.4.6 hotiso will work, dunno if is different from JaS one (this one includes, the VIA SATA drivers/SSE2 patch/Combo Update to 10.4.7) and since JaS is regular appearance on this forum, I'd spend the time to download his. But if you already have d/l'd the hotiso one, try it out (make sure to "customize" the installation in the beginnning assuming it's like the JaS one)

EDIT- BTW I haven't got audio working yet (intergrated), but plan to do so. Just keep that in mind ;)
