sambul65
Hello guys and girls, I'm a new Mac and Clover user who now needs advice on certain Clover well hidden (from developers and advanbced users) features. 😀 Btw, does anyone know how to boot NVMe drive with Clover on older systems? sambul65
Here is my startup.nsh content, which I hope should allow to connect to the loaded NVME driver and boot my NVMe SSD from an old computer without EFI support. It works when manually typed in shell after Clover boots from BDU formatted USB pen. However, when copied to Clover pen's \EFI\BOOT folder it does nothing, still Clover UI shows up without my NVMe GPT UEFI drive showing up. startup.nsh reconnect -r map -r fs0:\efi\boot\bootx64.efi Edited December 6, 2025 by sambul65 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362051-looking-for-clover-advise/#findComment-2844632 Share on other sites
sambul65
Where is Clover startup.nsh file coding tutorial or ANY information about that file content rules and examples? Surprisingly, THERE IS NONE anywhere I looked, and I'm quit skilled finding things that matter! Only Google AI is trying hard to help with something on the topic, but also not very convincing or content reach. I recently added NVMe support into legacy Clover. sambul65
Hello Slice, Thank you for sharing the file. Unfortunately it doesn't work for now on my PC. I tried it with the latest Clover 5164 release, and also with working OK with my hardware v5070 and 4439. These 2 Clover versions mostly recognise and boot OK the NVMe upon ISO start via Ventoy with boot7 renamed to boot as you suggested on another forum. They never booted with boot6 just showing blinking cursor instead. But these 3 versions show only SATA drives when booted from BDU formatted flash, so I have to boot NVMe disk manually via Clover shell since the BDU flash is faster than Ventoy+Clover.iso, which is also often unstable and boots into grub console instead of Clover GUI. I'll post the boot Log shortly or send via PM. sambul65
Just wanted to clarify that my computer uses legacy Gigabyte mobo GA-EP45-UD3P with P45 chipset that seems to be supported by Clover based on web reports. But as mentioned above it only works when Clover ISO v5070 or 4439 and some earlier versions are booted via Ventoy using boot7 as boot, and even at that goes to Clover GUI only sometime, but often ends up at grub console with no known way out. Also need to mention that I can't restart the computer after going to sleep or hibernation when booted with Clover from the VNMe drive hooked to the PCIe x16 slot. The mobo BIOS just trying to start on and off repeatedly until I switch off and on power to the PSU. Is there any fix for that?
