deeveedee
This hack has respectable performance for a used, inexpensive laptop, but not anywhere near what Apple Silicon delivers. No wonder Apple dropped Intel - this 10th generation Intel CPU delivers performance no better than Intel's 8th gen. deeveedee
I still have not figured out how to fix wake on this hack, but during my exploration of other posted EFIs for the HP Elitebook 850 G7 (and there are many), I have not found a single one that correctly patches the framebuffer for working HDMI. By "working HDMI," I mean having the ability to use the internal LVDS display and then hotplug the HDMI to add a second display (with both LVDS and HDMI simultaneously active) or to have HDMI connected at boot. ... and the internal brightness keys still work when the HDMI is connected. I do plan to post the correct framebuffer patch as a separate guide for proper patching HDMI in Cometlake. deeveedee
I just discovered that this hack has a working touchscreen (works in macOS, Windows and Linux). What a pleasant surprise for such an inexpensive laptop! 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361826-need-help-fixing-wake-on-the-hp-elitebook-850-g7/page/2/#findComment-2844060 Share on other sites
deeveedee
It's been a while since I posted an update to this thread... I was going to post my latest EFI, but I don't think there is much interest in a hackintosh based on the EliteBook 850 G7. As I mentioned before, I haven't found any posted 850 G7 hackintosh solutions that correctly patch the Intel 10th Gen iGPU graphics framebuffer for working internal display with hot-pluggable, perfectly working HDMI. If there is enough interest in the correct framebuffer patching solution, let me know in this thread so I know if it's worth the time for me to post the correct solution. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361826-need-help-fixing-wake-on-the-hp-elitebook-850-g7/page/2/#findComment-2846559 Share on other sites

I'm not sure if what Apple claims when you search for "Set your Mac to sleep/wake" is the same as what you're expecting. Personally, I think it would be best to avoid turning off the PS2 device when the computer is in sleep mode, but I don't know how. I'm currently testing this with an HP400G5FF Dual Monitor, and when I plugged in an HDMI stick while the computer was in sleep mode, the VGA became the main monitor, even though HDMI is usually the main monitor when I woke the computer using the keyboard. I'm finding it quite difficult to get it to work the way we expect. deeveedee
@Asural The sleep/wake issues with the HP EliteBook 850 G7 are not the same as any that you may be experiencing with the HP400 G5. The EliteBook 850 G7 is a 10th Gen Intel platform designed to support Microsoft Windows S0 low-power idle, commonly known as Modern Standby. Without S3 standby support in the HP EliteBook 850 G7, macOS cannot properly sleep and wake this platform. Again, the sleep/wake problem with the EliteBook 850 G7 documented in this thread is not in any way related to the architecture of the HP 400 G5. If you are experiencing HDMI issues with sleep/wake, then you still have not properly patched your framebuffer. This would be a topic for your HP 400 G5 thread. FirstCustomac
Have you looked into making deep idle mode to work? 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361826-need-help-fixing-wake-on-the-hp-elitebook-850-g7/page/2/#findComment-2846952 Share on other sites
deeveedee
@FirstCustomac Sorry for the delayed reply. I have not experimented with deep idle or other sleep/hibernate states. I currently have sleep disabled, so that the screen sleeps but the laptop doesn't suspend/hibernate. The only things not working are S3 sleep/wake, Thunderbolt, Trackpad buttons and the internal mic. Everything else is perfect and good enough for my use cases. notobo
Problem with BT after wake-and also with cold boot, when BT is off was solved in Sonoma with patched BlueToolFixup 2.6.9. In Sequoia this fix don't work on my BCM4352 . This was because of bluetoothExternalDongleFailed goes after wake to 01 instead of 00. I made simple shortcut which can be activated manually or auto by Shortery app. You must only change PASSWORD with yours, and it will function without need for admin priv. after sudo. echo -e PASSWORD | sudo -S nvram bluetoothExternalDongleFailed=%00 Bluetooth restart.shortcut Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361826-need-help-fixing-wake-on-the-hp-elitebook-850-g7/page/2/#findComment-2847325 Share on other sites
