fspkwonx86
So im trying to do an experiment switching the frame buffer of the Kabylakes Graphics Card to the Coffeelake (Kabylake Refresh) Variant Iris Plus 640 -> Iris Plus 655... I do not think that there's any features of either or that are different between the two it says the 655 just uses a different power profile.. from Catalina in the first place... its Zippy Snappy, and then Tanks with no explanation, but my changes aren't persistent.. and its not like doing this is providing an argument of support ... I can clearly see that both cards are well out of support change in the area of their re-design and in consequence could have been re-designing their support for this the entire time 1. I think this would effect its Low Power Mode profile.. someones reporting there's changes he's doing on his end that prevents the GPU idling in low power mode... 2. Throttling , although its reaching its Peak Frequency it doesnt mean it's not throttled... 3. Preemptive Behavior: Low Power Mode may effect preemptivity a feature that makes macOS basically work from what I can see..... -> I can't actually determine if its in Low Power Mode... and lastly CPU Consumption over GPU Acceleration says Safari uses GPU Acceleration , but in demonstration shows that its consuming More CPU than it is Peaking at the GPU Edited September 20, 2025 by fspkwonx86 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361699-intel-iris-plus-640-imac-181-framebuffer-select-help-requested/ Share on other sites
