AlfredoM
Hello friends, what could this be? Today I accidentally noticed that on MacOS Sequoia 15.4.1 on my 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019, everything stutters and freezes after about 5 minutes while watching a 4K video on YouTube, but I can see the CPU usage in the Activity Monitor at 870-920%. What is this then? If I log out and log back in and look at the Activity Monitor, everything is back to normal with the CPU at about 5%, etc. Now I don't know if it was the same with the 15.4, as I wasn't watching any 4K videos on YouTube at the time. Do you have any ideas or advice for me as to what might be causing this? Thanks for the info on this. AlfredoM
Problem solved. I still had an old YouTube app that was causing the problem. There are no issues in Google Browser or YouTube. But I reinstalled the app from Google Chrome and YouTube, and now everything works without issues, with unlimited video playback for 4K Videos minutes and normal CPU usage. AlfredoM
I actually thought I'd found the cause of the high kernel task utilization, which sometimes exceeds 1000%, but that's not the case. I've now noticed that Google Chrome, the latest build of which is: "Chrome is up to date Version 135.0.7049.115 (Official Build) (x86_64)" is the culprit. If I do something in Google Chrome for about 10 minutes, the kernel task utilization reaches about 900% after about 5 minutes. I'm wondering what the cause is, perhaps the 15.4.1 Sequoia? Has anyone with similar hardware to my 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 had a similar experience? Can someone confidentially take a look at my system diagnostics to see if they find anything suspicious? Thanks for any help or advice. bridge_sysdiagnose_2025.04.27_01-48-09+0000_Bridge-OS_Bridge_22P4248.tar.gz Edited April 27, 2025 by AlfredoM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/360943-macbook-pro-2019-16-zoll-kerneltask-870-after-5-minute-yt-uhd-video/#findComment-2831851 Share on other sites
