An error occurred while installing macOS 12, and the error message is in the image below.

Processor: Intel Core i5-14600KF, 14 cores
Motherboard: ASUS TXGAMINGB760MWIFID4 (Intel B760 chipset)
Memory: 64GB DDR4 2666MHz (32GB + 32GB)
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT (8GB / Sapphire)
Storage: WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB (1000GB)
Sound Card: AMD High Definition Audio Device
Network Card: Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter
Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller
Wi-Fi: Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz

This is a common problem with Intel's hybrid architecture (P+E cores) in macOS. For your 14600KF (6P+8E cores), you need to:

  • Add -ctrsmt boot flag to enable proper core scheduling

  • Use CpuTopologyRebuild.kext to fix core counting

  • Disable E-cores in BIOS if issues persist (set Active E-Cores = 0)
    Monterey's kernel doesn't natively support Raptor Lake Refresh's core mapping."
