hello , and I beg forgiveness

in the past , helped by the wealth of knowledge here I built three machines , and very nice they were too ;

not by design I had to return to windoze

a few days back I received a IMac mid 2011 , High Sierra with Capture One 11 on it ; it is a precious gift , as for the world I could not afford Capture One

I do not have the bottle to put an SSD inside , so I boot from an external SSD via USB 2

I've heard about Thunderbolt , speed , etc

the reason for my cry of help here is that on three mac forums asking how to enable TB  on my Mac is that all the answers I got were , buy a new(er) machine , etc

no one cared to reply any other thing , buy a new one was their " mantra of the day "

TB on mine is on the red

on an auction site I found a 2 Tera TB 2 , the one with an orange rubber protection , I can sort of afford ; it would be foolish of me to buy it and have a good look at it , alas no more

I know ( google) that TB needs power , apparently 1 and hopefully 2 don't need

sorry for the long and boring story

all I hope is that a charitable soul will help me out

once again I beg forgiveness , but this forum is the last resort for me

most kind thanks in advance
