EDIT: Very smooth OTA upgrade of my HackBookPro6,2 from Sonoma 14.7.3 -> 14.7.4.  Applying post-install root patches with OCLP 2.2.0.  Booting with OC 1.0.3.  Using Safari 18.3.

Spoiler

😃 It should be Release...there is a Full Installer available  https://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/32/49/072-84039-A_JPGNVJRH1M/cazcuskjdk6y6yrviytxanoevr5ihmz9lb/InstallAssistant.pkg

However I received the notification, even though I was logged in Developer Seed ( same in Ventura ) ... I expected the first beta 14.7.4 🤔

Well, whatever release it is, it's buggy.  Spotaneous reboots, just like in 13.7.2 and some other versions of Ventura.

And no, I don't experience these in Monterey, Sonoma or Sequoia.....(just in case you were thinking of asking)....

Just to clarify, you're comparing the stability of Sonoma (this thread) to that of Ventura - correct?  I'm finding Sonoma 14.7.4 to be absolutely rock-solid without any issues on my HackMini8,1.  I'm also finding Ventura to be flawless (to the extent that it can be) on my HackBookPro6,2.

I would say that this is the most stable version currently with 100% functionallity for me. I also have the latest Sequoia Beta, but I am facing some battery drain issues + missing location services due to the airportitlwm. Sonoma 14.7.4 is my daily driver. Very happy with it.

Figured you all would enjoy this. This is a used chromebook I got almost two years ago (Acer Spin 713) with working tablet mode, auto-rotation, etc.
I've been thoroughly impressed by this device honestly. Has pretty good battery life and just enough horse power to work on small projects, use firefox, etc.

Oh, macOS is awful to use with a touchscreen with no display scaling btw. 0/10, would not recommend to friends.

Oh wow,  I am very interested in auto-rotation. Currently using displayplacer for that but I would love to have auto-rotation feature on my convertible. Does auto-rotation also do 90 and 270 degree or is it just for 180?. I do 90 pretty often for reading.

Edit: Ouch, I think I misunderstood it.  It's auto-rotation in ChromeOS only right?

@FirstTimeCustomac

Auto rotation to 90/280/270 all work in macOS. I ended up writing a driver for the embedded controller in these devices to grab accelerometer data for this. Here is the sensor hub portion of that. Not too bad - VoodooI2C team actually figured this out beforehand for their own sensor hub driver.

As part of that EC driver, I also added support for the keyboard backlight through some SMC keys. Was able to copy an implementation from AsusSMC for this to get system preferences integration, auto-dimming, etc.

Edit: would there be interest in a dedicated post for this device where I go into more detail?
