frenchie
I've decided that it is time to ask for help. I've spent about five days now troubleshooting this install and I still get the same old "Still waiting for root device" First my system specs: Intel Pentium 4 Prescott Motherboard: D865GBF 1gb RAM Nvidia FX 5500 80gb Maxtor drive (windows) 60gb Maxtor drive (OS X) Before anyone asks my boards is PATA and the drives are IDE. I tried running the boot flags "-v -f" ,but I still get the error. I've tried rearranging my HDDs and I still have the problem. And finally I tried installing from VMware, but every time I started the boot loader the virtualization would crash during the unpacking sequence for the mach_kernel. Any help at this time would be greatly appreciated. Google and the search function have not been very helpful at all EDIT: Thanks Rammjet! This solved it! Rammjet
Try putting the DVD drive and hard drive on the same cable. Set the hard drive to master and the DVD drive to slave using jumpers not cable select.
