guiyoforward
hi there, I will finally soon get my inspiron e1505 from dell with a 2gz core 2 duo processor. I was wondering how I could contribute to finally get the two cores working on the machine. I know joe75 and others have already passed on kernel debug messages to semthex, with no results so far. some of us beleive it might be a BIOS issue. is there such a thing as BIOS debugging that can be used to detect the possible problems? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35885-bios-debug-for-dual-core-support-on-kernel-1048/ Share on other sites
joe75
The only bios debugging would be trial and error. I don't even know if my debugging was ever looked over because I never received any conformation or response back from semthex, he didn't even see that my Merom was mobile in a Inspiron I could be wrong but I don't believe the problem is in bios, regardless I've tried all the limited options available and nothing seemed to help. I'm hoping after sse2 is worked out semthex will be able to look into Merom issues a little better. guiyoforward
so Joe, what's your best guess then? I can't figure out why the kernel will not work with a stock, standard processor on a plain vanilla intel chipset mobo. joe75
so Joe, what's your best guess My best guess is the mobile factors of the Merom chip structure or limited support form a striped down board, but I think what ever the problem is, it can be overcome Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35885-bios-debug-for-dual-core-support-on-kernel-1048/#findComment-256053 Share on other sites
