ohsnap
Hello. Has anyone noticed their system being a bit slower after moving from Ventura to Sonoma? I'm not yet sure if it's on account of my hardware being a bit dated at this point or some kind of misconfiguration with the config.plist or the OS. I'll list some examples. There's a delay of about 1-2 seconds before the cursor to start blinking in the password field at the login screen. Typing while the cursor isn't blinking doesn't register. This can increase to 2-3 seconds if one of the new video screensaver+wallpaper combo is selected. The video doesn't play at login, it's the static wallpaper image. After login, it takes about 5 seconds before the desktop loads. Loging off also takes slightly longer, about 2-3 seconds more. There's a slight delay in launching some applications. The more complex the app, the longer the delay. Chromium, for instance, launches almost a second slower. Same thing with Safari, but also it's first launch after booting can take up to 5 seconds (no extensions used). Sometimes, there's a small delay before copying files, though the copying speed itself is normal. Im not sure what to do at this point. Should I try to reinstall macOS ? I've jumped from 13.4 through all Sonoma betas, and maybe this had some ill effect. I've attatched the config.plist, if someone could have a look it would be greatly appreciated. edit: I went ahead and built the EFI from scratch again, and reinstalled Sonoma. It cleared the mentioned issues for me, but not 100%. There's still a bit of slowness here and there but it's much better than before.
