teejayhoward
Just got it "up and running" without the slowdown issue. Got a couple questions: 1) How the hell does one hot-swap SATA drives in OSX? I figured I'd just plug the drive in and it'd show up on the desktop, but... Nope! What I found out: In a nutshell, it either ain't possible, or I'm a retard. mount_ntfs can't find my disk, nor can mount. Disk Utility doesn't/can't scan for new disks. 2) My USB Webcam (GE EasyCam) doesn't seem to be working. It is detected via System Profiler. The light on it doesn't come on, and I don't know what program to use to check and see - iChat doesn't work with USB webcams, right? 3) Is there a MSN Messenger client availible for Mac OS X that allows webcams? I'm using Messenger:Mac right now, and it doesn't seem to. What I found out: Apparently, Mercury will work. It's just butt ugly in comparison to Messenger:Mac. 4) My Dell 2405FPW has an integrated card reader I'd love to use... So how do I use it? What I found out: I'm a moron. Put a card in. It automounts, and shows up on the desktop. Doh! 5) Is there a way to get the X-Fi XtremeMusic working? What I found out: There's not even a Linux driver availible. MacOSX86 surely doesn't have one. You are right about ichat and usb webcams, it only supports firewire cameras but if you have a firewire dv camera, that should work (if you have firewire!!). 3)There are quite a few messenger clients for OSX and some support webcams, eg Yahoo messenger for mac. Check out this review from July06.
