Got myself a bargain full specs laptop on eBay refurbished section, works great with Tails, Ubuntu, Windows 11, Arch Linux, testing now getting Mojave loading using Clover.

I can get in, some stuff not working, what works is

Graphics is OK, no acceleration yet.

USB 3.1 working.

Ethernet working.

keyboard backlight working.

Decently fast.

Tried OpenCore, couldn't understand how to make it work.

I have an old EFI from my previous mods (used the DSDT of  Motherboard Asus P8H67-M LE from here:

This just to get it started.

It worked.

Added some kexts from other peeps that were not there, got Ethernet working.

So far

no sound.

no integrated keyboard.

no trackpad.

but oddly keyboard backlight works...

So using an external usb mouse works,

& an external usb keyboard also works.

Will attach the Clover EFI I am using , maybe someone has a better one for Dell Latitude E5550.

Will also list the specs of the laptop.

This is just a hobby, I am getting old, & had Covid, so my brains are getting slow LOL!

It might help firing those old neurones.

Actualy typing in Mojave from the actual laptop using Firefox.

EFI.zip is big so will use my dropbox.

Link to EFI folder:

Further notes:

On OS X Sierra sound works.

actually sound shows up in hardware profile but doesn't work.

but in Mojave only HDMI sound appears...

Need for integrated keyboard & trackpad drivers

Keyboard & Sound sorted in Mojave by just removing the DSDT files, the kexts are enough.

Remains trackpad, bluetooth, graphics acceleration & wifi... ethernet works oob.

Graphics it has both Intel & NVidia, but only shows up Intel.

Latest:

I scavenged kexts & dsdt's from some work on Dell Latitude 5550 by a member of the osxlatitude froum, & added them in my Clover EFI folder I now have most stuff working:

including trackpad, keyboard, backlight, sound & bluetooth.

still missing:

WiFi & graphics acceleration.

integrated camera.

NB: I am doing some cooking as I forgot how to use the tools properly :)

Will include this better enhanced Clover folder in my dropbox & post the link for those interested.

I am not interested in using or learning how to use opencore, but if someone did a complete work for Dell Latitude E5550, I will use it as bootloader.

Link to EFI folder mk2:

Further notes:

after a reboot integrated webcam started working mysteriously.

other mystery: needs to reboot twice to get audio to work, also randomly after boot could switch to HDMI audio even though not linked to a monitor.

I use both Mojave apfs & hfs+, both work, but audio does not yet work on apfs though they use the same Clover EFI & kexts.

Soon to post data of specs...

For some odd reason lost audio, no idea why.

For some other odd reason cannot boot to HFS+ Mojave, though can still boot in apfs.

For another odd reason with same Clover EFI audio works for High Sierra through Voodoo kext, maybe needs an update for Mojave?

Will include another EFI I collated but:

NB: As I am doing this trial & error blind due to my brains' restrictions, in order maybe to receive help will carry on in the relevant post install old versions of OS X section...

Hopefully I will collate enough to do a full treatment as I did for previous systems like:

Motherboard Asus P8H67-M LE High Sierra / Mojave et al.

OK update...

OS X Mojave getting there slowly,

sound is back, I now know what to do

bluetooth OK

webcam OK

ethernet OK

integrated keyboard with backlight OK

trackpad OK,

USB 3 OK.

still

no sdcard reader

no wifi (unless using a dongle with driver)

no graphics acceleration.

Will put the Clover EFI in a new thread on Laptops Mojave post installation & tricks I use.

to be carried on here:
