Ok 10.4.8 installed, but nothing is working. I have tried and successfully managed to run 10.4.7 without problems and got wireless and sound working.

The jas.10.4.8 reseed does not include the wireless package which was available in 10.4.7 and does not install my broadcom 4318 chipset wireless pci card. I tried to install the 10.4.7 package which apparently installs successfully only to be greeted upon reboot as a kext file is not installed correctly.

The broadcom instructions does not mention any issues with 10.4.8, but the IO80211 kext file is not acessible from finder (it used to be) and the networkconfigurtation.plist is in another directory.

All seems very broken to me - any help would be very much apprecaited and i hope to create this topic so that anyone trying the new jas 10.4.8 reseed can add their problems too.

Remember this topic is for 10.4.8 only!

Thanks guys i really need your help right now!

The NetworkInterfaces.plist is supposed to be here:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

The primary feature of the wireless package in JaS i0.4.7 installer is that it is from 10.4.5 and Apple included a lot of wireless device ids. This made it immediately compatible with a lot of devices with no extra effort. Modifying the existing Braodcom Info.plist to add your device id will get it working.

Whether you ran the installer from 10.4.7 or if you add your own device id, fixing permissions on the installed kext is key to avoiding the "installed incorrectly" error. Also be sure no typos krept in or nothing happened to the indenting inside the Info.plist.

Go to the Wireless link in my signature. Follow the instructions for the Broadcom devices. Verify that your device id is in the Info.plist and when done, proceed to follow the rest of the main instructions through repairing permissions and kextcache command. Try out the device before changing the en0 to en1 trick because it may work without that.

Thanks for the assistance! - i've got wireless and Titan.kext working with my Nvidia 7900Gt- just need to see if i can get the sound to work. Stay tuned folks i will post my findings along with my system spec for you to maybe try and replicate.

Ok i've had no luck with the sound drivers - i have followed the ALC8xx guide as the ALC850 assumes it is already functional. Is there anything else i can try or am i doomed to no sound in jas 10.4.8. I got the sound working as per the ALC8xx instructions in 10.4.7 just for the record. I am using the mifki kernel.

This is a pure jas reseed 10.4.8 DVD install - i wanted to do it this way to get the full support of my graphics card.

Thanks for your support people and rammjet in particular! I feel i'm on the cusp of something very special - just need the audio to work!

Thanks again
