AmigaOS
Updated from Sonoma Beta to Beta 2 with no issues. Everything works except wifi only works with Heliport and itlwm and doesn't get full speed just sorta works. Still has the stock intel AX200, Bluetooth works great. Opencore 0.9.3 and latest kexts. Also running Ventura 13.41 as my daily driver. Win 11 and opensuse Tumbleweed also. Using the 630 gpu as I needed the graphics port for a NVME M2 adapter so I could run 4 M2 drives total. 32 gb DDR4 ram. Thermaltake cube ITX case. Update: Beta 3 installed successfully. Disk Utility no longer hangs at the end of running First Aid. Seems pretty stable otherwise so far. draylax
Nice work, which Opencore version did you get this running one? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357079-success-sonoma-beta-3-asrock-z490m-itxac-i9-10900/#findComment-2807580 Share on other sites
draylax
Here same board as you and also using iGPU Intel UHD 630 to drive display, so similar scenario, using the PCIe for an Audio card instead. Running Ventura 13.2.1 though still, because after installing 13.3, 13.4 there's a resolution change mid way booting, normal res until the Apple icon then Apple icon doubles in size. When arrive at desktop, position of windows of apps from previous session are not restored, instead they are pushed down the the bottom left of the display. I suppose this didn't affect you else I would have read about it, or maybe you didn't notice or maybe you close all apps and finder windows before shutting down? 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357079-success-sonoma-beta-3-asrock-z490m-itxac-i9-10900/#findComment-2807583 Share on other sites

I suppose this didn't affect you else I would have read about it, or maybe you didn't notice or maybe you close all apps and finder windows before shutting down? I don't have that problem but there are some anomalies with Sonoma. 1: It wants me to re-enter my Apple ID password every time I reboot. 2: If I restart with with previous session enabled there is always a finder window upon boot up that is froze and have to restart finder for it to go away as it won't let you close the window. This happens even if nothing was open when you previously shutdown/restarted. If I deselect "open with previous session" this problem does not occur. 3: FileZilla crashes with "queue sequence error". 4: JRiver Media Center 31 gets an API error on startup but seems to work ok. The last 2 problems may be that those 2 programs haven't been updated to work properly on Sonoma yet. Ventura 13.4.1 runs pretty much problem free. I use ethernet instead of wifi as the heliport barely works. I may get brave and try and install Sonoma on my HP 17-by2053cl laptop later. Ventura runs great on that also but took many hours to get it all sorted out. Even though the onboard sound works fine for what it is for sound I use the external Allo Boss 2 DAC with a RPi4 Raspberry hooked to my router via ethernet. I just noticed the spelling auto correct really butchered my first post. AmigaOS
Did some research and found the API Alert is a known bug for Sonoma even on real Macs. Another problem I found is that if you run first aid from Disk Futility it will run all the way to the end and say it was successful and show the Done click box but its froze and won't respond. You have to restart to get out of it. Found this is also a problem that has been reported. So its definitely not quite ready yet for primetime On the other hand its surprising it works as well as it does for only being Beta 2. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357079-success-sonoma-beta-3-asrock-z490m-itxac-i9-10900/#findComment-2807618 Share on other sites
draylax
Hrm, thanks for details AmigaOS, it’s quite interesting to read your observations as reference to my system. Under Ventura, mine won’t sleep either, after I select Sleep from Apple Menu, the display goes black, and then I come back 5 mins later and it back on. Had to question myself few times as to if I actually selected sleep or actually selected restart. Your board is definitely Asrock Z490 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3 this one right: https://pg.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z490 Phantom Gaming-ITXTB3/index.asp Would you mind making a copy of your config.plist, (remove serials of course) and attach it? I’m going to have to take a careful look at your’s and mine side by side and see where the differences are. There’s a quite a few new GOP related additions since 0.9.0, so i’ll update my OpenCore to 0.9.4 when it is final sometime this week. AmigaOS
My mb is a little different than yours, Its a Asrock Z490M-itx/ac: https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z490M-ITXac/index.asp Its basically the same except less features. I have attached a copy of my config.plist minus identifying numbers, config.plist Edited July 2, 2023 by AmigaOS 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357079-success-sonoma-beta-3-asrock-z490m-itxac-i9-10900/#findComment-2807631 Share on other sites
draylax
Thanks AmigaOS. I updated to Opencore 0.9.3 and compared your config.plist to mine and I changed a few items to be the same as yours: UEFI>Output Resolution from mine 3840×1600@100 to yours: Max UIScale mine 1 to yours -1 Updated to Ventura 13.4.1 and have the same problem, huge Apple Icon and Progress bar on boot, get to desktop and windows are scattered everywhere and made much smaller. Changed AAPL,ig-platform-id from 07009B3E to 00009B3E, didn't fix the issue although the resolution had only a max of 85hz where as on AAPL,ig-platform-id 07009B3E I get 100hz. I still seem to suspect this problem is caused by something Apple changed in this 13.3+ updates. Maybe tomorrow i'll think about update this Ventura to the Sonoma beta 2, if that's possible, IDK if everyone have been installing fresh or updating existing Ventura systems. It would be more for curiosity rather than to use fulltime, until the Wifi situation is resolved, if ever. Anyway thanks for your config. Quite a different system you have I see from all the kernel extensions and drivers. You know, before I asked about your board I did try looking for it a Asrock site but it didn't show up. I selected Z490 chipset and iTX form factor, only my board showed up. After getting to the page with your link I remember now I was trying to buy that board but since it was 3 years old there was no stock anywhere but I found a shop in my country that had the TB variant in stock so I bought this one. I didn't specifically decided on aboard for Thunderbolt, your board was more suited since it has dedicated USB 2 ports and just the right amount of USB3x ports and USB C. AmigaOS
I installed Sonoma on an M.2 that already had a working version of Big Sur on it. I did not do a clean install from scratch. I wanted to try that first out of laziness and if it didn't work I was going to do a clean install. Sonoma does work but with a few anomalies at least some of which are valid beta bugs. Make sure you use the latest kexts especially BlueToolFixup etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357079-success-sonoma-beta-3-asrock-z490m-itxac-i9-10900/#findComment-2807657 Share on other sites
draylax
Installed Sonoma on Ventura 13.2.1 with the full installer: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/02/02/032-95852-A_JX472QYN2N/0q2do64a61pmgv1u8j0l3ddyfrods0yvdo/InstallAssistant.pkg Good news, is booting, the Apple icon stays the same small size, so no obvious resolution changes, arriving at desktop all apps and windows are sized and positioned correctly as per the previous session. Old bad news, setting machine to sleep appears to do so but after about 30 seconds it reboots itself, most likely my Opencore config , so will need to investigate this. AmigaOS
I'm glad is fixed your res problem. When mine boots it changes the size of the apple logo also when it loads the driver but boots to a normal desktop. I just tested the sleep as I hadn't tried it in a while and it seems to be working normally. draylax
Some additional info for anyone ever searching. I was using DisplayPort on the Asrock board, I decided to use HDMI port, noticed though that while booting Opencore and verbose correctly displayed resolution, until got close to the desktop, actually probably about when the Apple logo supposed to appear, the screen went black. After a while it flashed on and off where I could see the desktop. Resolved this with a NVRAM boot-arg -igfxmpc On this page https://github.com/acidanthera/WhateverGreen/blob/master/Manual/FAQ.IntelHD.en.md He says: HDMI in UHD resolution with 60FPS Use the -igfxmpc boot-arg to raise the max pixel clock limit. It can also be used for 4K@60Hz over HDMI 2.0. For sure it did the trick resolving this issue with HDMI black screen.
