Shane Lu
Hi, I've read everywhere that CE/QI can be enabled with the ATI x1400 chipset. Can one of you who got it working share with us how you did it? It would be nice if I can get mine to work (It's the only part that doesn't work!) A few months ago there was nothing for the x1400, and now suddenly it's revived. Share the wealth ! geo2002
Update to 10.4.8. Shane Lu
I installed 8.8.1, then installed the driver from installers.dl.am (3.6). Now, I can change my resolution at will, which is pretty cool. However, CE/QI is still disabled. I even changed my Info.plist to match my device IDs (0x7145). Then I deleted my kextcaches and did a Repair Permissions. All that and still no CE/QI, but with resolution changes. Any clues? And what is this ATIinject I keep hearing about, and Caretta? Do I need them, and where do I get them? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35654-x1400-tutorial-for-ceqi/#findComment-253647 Share on other sites
Shane Lu
In my Extensions in my System Profiler, I get ATIX1000.kext to show up, but it says: ATIRadeonX1000: Version: 1.4.40 Last Modified: 11/4/06 9:40 AM Get Info String: ATIRadeonX1000 1.4.40.4 (3952) Location: /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext kext Version: 4.4.0 Load Address: 0x326d5000 Valid: Yes Authentic: Yes Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found Integrity: Kext is modified and my ATY_Caretta.kext says: Version: 1.4.40 Last Modified: 11/4/06 9:40 AM Get Info String: ATY_Caretta 1.4.40.4 (1.1f37) Location: /System/Library/Extensions/ATINDRV.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ATY_Caretta.kext kext Version: 4.4.0 Load Address: 0x3257b000 Valid: Yes Authentic: Yes Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport: No valid version of this dependency can be found Integrity: Kext has no receipt obviously, it shouldn't be like that, as other pictures have said that dependecies should be complete. Shane Lu
sure if you can answer my initial question... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35654-x1400-tutorial-for-ceqi/#findComment-254696 Share on other sites
gregor
I do not have any of it. I think Carreta is located inside of ATIRadeonX100GA.kext. ATIInject.kext was deleted, some suggested to use NATIT.kext instead, but that did not work for me. I had (on my first try) some success with ATIinject.kext (CI, QE, but no res change). But I messed my ATIInject, so now does not work anymore and I have made no backup. If you would be so kind and send me your ATIRadeonX1000* kexts and IOFramebuffer, IONDRV and any other conncted to your working configuration would be great. mybe I will have some success and I WILL report here like allways. if any other reading this and having any clue, please help us. p.s. my email is: glastrica(at)gmail.com (for kexts) Thanks greetings Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35654-x1400-tutorial-for-ceqi/#findComment-254777 Share on other sites
geo2002
sure if you can answer my initial question... replace your ATI* kexts with the kexts extracted from the official Apple 10.4.8 update. Then rebuild kextcache (-f on restart) and insert correct device ID (0x71451002) into /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Content/Info.plist. Then run following commands in terminal: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext then reboot and enjoy with QE/CI. Shane Lu
I already have 10.4.8, so I guess I won't really need to extract anything huh. instead of rebuilding in restart, wouldn't it be same to do the following commands: rm Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache in System/Library?
