mengshi
My 4th Gen Intel Hackintosh has been serving me well and now I need to scratch my upgrade itch. Been curious about using Proxmox (single desktop) to run several VMs, including Hackintosh/Ryzentosh. Not a heavy gamer but being able to switch easily is definitely better than dual booting into Windows. In terms of hardware, there are loads of HP Z440 with multi core Xeons going for really cheap (Using C612 chipset. Quite a few success stories on YouTube). The other option is the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G due to ability to use ECC. I know the Vega 8 iGPU is not supported but I have the RX580 which is. Was wondering if anyone has experiences in using Proxmox Hackintosh/Ryzentosh in either platform? There are pros and cons with either platform of course. Ryzen - up to 8c/16T (ok for multi VM?) vs Xeon E5 (laughably cheap multi core at lower frequencies), power consumption etc. Any opinions or help? Aluveitie
Many on AMD use Unraid nowadays but there are some guides for Proxmox: https://www.macos86.it/topic/2509-guide-trx40-osx-bare-metal-proxmox-setup62-1-updated-25-07-2020/ https://github.com/Pavo-IM/Proxintosh For using ECC, motherboard support is crucial since many consumer boards don't support it and will just run with ECC disabled.
