When I boot into windows to use macdrive, it says my OS X partition is corrupted, and because of that, it is read only. I formatted the partition as Mac OS (Journaled), could the fact that it is a journaled partition be the reason I am getting this error? I am perfectly willing to reinstall to fix this, I would just like to use macdrive, or transmac, or something to get at my files when I am using windows.

Yeah, this error message behavior is really annoying. macDrive is very Picky about

not correctly unmounted drives.

You can do the following:

Boot into -s mode, then mount the volume, do the suggested fsck -fs command and

then type reboot.

If you aren't even able to get into -s mode, use the OS X DVD, start

diskutility, do a diskcheck for errors (there won't be errors, but do it anyway) and then

unmount the drive.

After that, macdrive will give you readwrite again.
