A Boston
Ive been using High Sierra on a Z820 for a few years. Following the well known guide it worked well. The Z820 board comes with 2 SATA ports, several SCU ports and many SAS ports. Ive never needed to use the extra ports -- until NOW! Several claim their LS 2308 ISAS controller works fine. a) Is everyone using a bonafide SAS drive b) SATA is actually compatible with SAS so shouldn't it be possible to use the SATA drives in the SAS port. The LSI documentation suggests that the controller will determine whether SAS or SATA It panics whenever I plug in the bay drive. Even if a drive is not attached. Odd. I do have AstekFusion2Family and AstekFusion2Adapter kexts to 10.13 folder of clover SCU is hopeless it seems so no point in continuing there. Perhaps its the BIOS version and/or LSI? c) What BIOS is needed if you had success. BillDH2k
@A Boston I've used both SAS (HP/Seagate brands) and SATA drives on the Z820's SAS ports without any issue. I have the latest BIOS (3.96), but using Catalina - Monterey, with OpenCore loader. Not used High Sierra.
