I just downloaded the JaS.10.4.8.SSE3.Intel.Only.iso and burned it to DVD from my PowerBook. I popped it into my Dell Dimension 5150 and rebooted. The installation has progressed as expected however the only destination volume that it is presenting me with is my 160GB LaCie USB drive (which I had just moved over from my PowerBook so it is formatted HFS+). This is a stock Dell with an 80GB SATA drive. The only customization I've done is plugged in my old IDE drive from my last computer. I figured I wouldn't be able to use that as my boot drive... but I really didn't research it.

So how do I get the installer to see my SATA drive?

Thanks ... I'm sure I'm in for some fun! LOL

OK... I'm an idiot... I forgot I just needed to go into the Disk Utility...

... with that said, Is there a way I'll be able to use my IDE drive as a boot device? When I go into the BIOS settings, it doesn't show it as a boot option... so I doubt it..anyone know any better?

At the beginning of the installation, go to Disk Utility in the Utilities menu and erase (format) your partition as MacOS Extended Journaled. Then quit Disk Utility and the installer should see the partition. If Disk Utility doesn't see the SATA drive, then your SATA chipset on the motherboard isn't supported. In that case, use the IDE drive.

Thanks for your quick response... I'm not as stupid as I sound :D

That said, I'm not familiar at all with dual-booting. Is there a relatively simple way I can keep my XP installation on my primary SATA drive and boot OSx86 off of my IDE Drive? The IDE drive is connected with the same cable as the DVD drive. Not sure about the whole primary secondary thing...
