i0ntempest
Hi all, I would like to ask if anyone have successfully installed Ventura on a Z390 board (or any platform that needs the AvoidRuntimeDefrag quirk). My last attempt to install beta 10 (which resulted in me doing a full Monterey reinstall and restore from TimeMachine) a few days ago didn't end well, if I enable the quirk the installer would panic loop, but if I disable it i get the dreaded "required firmware update could not be installed" error mid-install. I would like to upgrade early because it solves a particular problem related to airplay on my system, and beta 10 seems to be stable enough. Any help is appreciated. EFI attached. Baio77
It would take Ioreg to fix the ACPI properly, try this EFI, if it starts ioreg. i0ntempest
@Baio77Sorry for the delay! This is the ioreg with your EFI booted. I see you added a lot of ACPI patches, are those just for debugging? Also, I see you disabled my EC and USBX patch and enabled EC-USBX which I had disabled. That one isn't going to work (H_EC related ACPI error) which is why I disabled it. EDIT: never mind, looks like you changed it Hack Pro.ioreg.zip Edited October 14, 2022 by i0ntempest Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/354326-help-installingupgrading-to-ventura-on-aorus-z390-pro/#findComment-2795144 Share on other sites
Baio77
Ioreg is good, some acpi patches are cosmetic others are patches to enhance your hack. See if it works as well as before. Example SSDT-Navi rename like in real Macs , add SMBUS device real Macs same SMBios or fake device USBW + kext , fix wake . i0ntempest
@Baio77Thanks. Can you also explain what SRAM and XSPI do? I wasn't able to find much info on these and not sure if I really need them. The NAVI patch did give some visual experience improvements. If all goes well I'll attempt to install Ventura again soon. Also I need to add DTGP back or else my thunderbolt patches would not work. i0ntempest
Update: Ventura installation failed again, same problems as before (though it now hangs on panic because of the boot args added). Probably just need to wait for an OC update? Baio77
0.8.5 of Opencore is already compatible with Ventura, if you have problems with the installation you are doing something wrong Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/354326-help-installingupgrading-to-ventura-on-aorus-z390-pro/#findComment-2795250 Share on other sites
i0ntempest
I know it is supposed to support it, but from what I read, AvoidRuntimeDefrag quirk is required on Z390 but Ventura conflicts with it, and disabling it would cause "required firmware update could not be installed" error. I followed this without success, and now I'm outta ideas.
