Hey guys,

Firstly can I say sorry if this is not the correct forum but it's the one I could find. :D

I have got a copy of Mac OS X 10.4.6 JaS Install DVD and have tried to install it on my Acer laptop. I have enabled -v mode and it's gave me some weird errors that I don't have a clue what it's talking about.

The laptop specs are:

AMD Turion 64 X2

1GB RAM

ATI Radeon XPress 1100

120GB HDD

I wasn't wanting to multi boot or anything just a plain OS X laptop.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction with the error messages.

I have included a screenshot of the whole sequance.

The last line reads "Still waiting for root device."

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Is the problem with the initial boot of the DVD or after you have installed?

Looks like after installation.

What packages did you choose in the Customize window during installation:

You have AMD. Can't use a 10.4.8 "Intel Only" release. There is an AMD release though. Read the 10.4.8 link in my signature.

Meanwhile, see if you can go to BIOS and set USB to legacy or set if off if you have PS2 keyboard and mouse.

When starting the installation, instead of "press any key to start installation", go and press F8. At the prompt, type: -v cpus=1

Well that wasn't successful the DVD still did not work and my bios did not seem to have any such options. Just noticed it was very very basic. Got 3 lines of "Waiting for root device" after I had left it for a while.

I am going to take a look at that VMware guide and hopefully that will help or do you think its better to use a later AMD version.

Edit: I have looked at the guide and I see that it's aimed at a computer with 2 physical HDD's as this is a laptop I only have one. Will it still work if I use partitions.

Nope no option like that in the BIOS. I'm very dissapointed with the BIOS to be honest but theres nothing I can do. I am going to do a fresh install of XP with a 5GB or so partition and leave the rest. Boot into XP VMware install the OS X and then delete the XP partition so its the Mac only. :D

Thanks ever so much for all the help you have provided.
