Hello friends! Someone who can point me to a guide or guide how to create an El Capitan penboot with opencore AMD phenom ii x4 960T, because I can't make the installer start at all! Mode: .el captain vanilla from the terminal .Uefi or Bios .Kernel custom in Kernels directory at the root of esp penboot (custom kernel = true in config.plist) .kexts lilu-virtualsmc-whatevergreen to start .drivers hfspluslegacy-openruntime only, do not use graphical menu .flags -v npci=0x2000 keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 comes to the menu to choose usb installer, then the screen goes black and no text appears then restarts. I suspect you are not reading the custom kernel.

Which menu exactly? Your Motherboards Boot menu or the boot loader you're trying to configure (Clover, OpenCore?)
If you mean your Motherboards Boot menu, then it seems like it can't or won't boot from the EFI at the USB. Make sure Secure Boot is disabled and your config is set-up properly

https://github.com/AMD-OSX/AMD_Vanilla

Supported macOS versions

  • High Sierra 10.13.x

  • Mojave 10.14.x

  • Catalina 10.15.x

  • Big Sur 11.x

  • Monterey 12.x

  • Ventura 13.x ( Patches provided but No* support for beta versions. )

hello friend! It is the opencore menu to start installer. After choosing to install macos, the screen is black and the verbose doesn't even appear and the debug text is completely blank. forgot to mention, I'm trying to make a penboot of El Capitan with custom kernel, folder named Kernels and the kernel in lower case inside the root of the esp penboot. configured in the plist the option CustomKernel=true. Is there anything else to modify?

all right friend? Since opencore version 0.71 you have the option to use a custom kernel and boot older macs. I believe that this information presented by you, is referring to their support, due to a lot of inconvenience with old versions.

Surely you are right, you reminded me that before high sierra we used patched kernels that were loaded during installation, then the system has evolved and improved and now just a few kernel patches in the config.

To conclude, unfortunately I have no answer to your question, sorry

Cool friend, don't worry! They could have also patches the old amds to ensure the survival of the weakest??? HAHAHA...

Boot using the DEBUG version of OpenCore, then in your config.plist under Misc->Debug:
ApplePanic -> true

AppleDebug -> true
Enable logging -> true
Target -> 67

Which should let OpenCore log to your EFI, which might give you information on what is happening.
Where did you grab the Kernel from?

hi ricoc90, I make use of these options as described and log doesn't record anything! But I'll use the debug version just the same and check for any info and let you know as soon as I can! thanks.

Hello ricoc90, all beauty!

I'll tell you what I have activated and I only have this alternative:

1- csm support enabled.

2- USB legacy support enabled.

any other can be disabled.

I'm using opencore debug and it's in the following situation:

1- get to the opencore menu.

2- choose macOS installer.

3- no text appears, even with -v in boot flags.

4- after a minute it restarts.

I will attach the config.plist and debug.txt, if you can shed some light for me, I would be very grateful. thanks.

forgot to mention, shaneee rc4 kernel for my cpu.

Kernel->Scheme->CustomKernel is not enabled in the config that you posted. Also make sure CFGLock is disabled in your BIOS

sorry I sent you the wrong config! this was a test to try to run el capitan already installed and the same thing happens with the installer usb.

cfglock in config is enabled because my card doesn't have that option.

a question if you know!

in the esp kernels folder, you must have the three kernel files; kernel, kernel cache and prelinkedkernel?

if yes, how do I create these other two through the esp kernel?.
