Am just about to install OSx onto my dell for the sole reason of running final cut pro, and was looking at the min requirements for the software and it didnt mention my dual core centrino processor

will this give me any problems running final cut pro 5 and will it still be possible to install OSx and use dual operating systems on the laptop

Any help would be great

Thanks

Duncan

You should be able to do what you want including dual boot. You may have video glitches depending upon your video card.

Sometimes, dual core Hackintoshes suffer from "stutter" where things operate in a jerky fashion with random freezes and jitters. The solution is to turn off one core, but this usually does not affect performance very much.

Also, sometimes problems with 10.4.8 on Dell. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32654

I have a Geforce 7950 512mb gfx card

It is one of the best gfx cars you can get for laptops as far as i know

You should be able to get good graphics using the new Natit/Titan techniques for 10.4.8. Except you will have to set your video memory usage to 256 MB in BIOS because of some unknown bug with the higher memory. Probably will be fixed in the future.

Also, depending upon the sound chips in the computer, you may or may not get sound working. Sound-in can be a particular problem for things like Skype. In that case, a very inexpensive USB sound device can be bought on eBay to allow sound-in.
