I installed the whole OS on my HDD. Then I retsrat my System. MacOSX starts with a grey screen and a Loading-Cycle in the middle... wich keeps running and running... seince 6 hours... every time I try. Did someone know why this happends? Rammjet
What packages did you choose in the Customize window during installation? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4249 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-249957 Share on other sites

Rammjet
If installing OSX as the only OS on the whole hard drive: Format the drive as FAT32 using some Windows/Linux utility on any utilities boot CD. Don't use Windows itself because it has a limit on partition size. Formatting as FAT32 creates a teeny-tiny partition for MBR and the rest of the disk is one big partition. Make sure the partition is primary, set it to active and give it ID=AF. Boot the install DVD and go to the Utilities menu and select Disk Utility. In Disk Utility, on the left, select the partition icon displayed below the hard drive icon. On teh right, click the Erase tab. Give the partition a name and be sure it is set as MacOS Extended Journaled. Click the Erase button. Quit Disk Utility. In the installer, click the partition to install OSX to. When you get to the Install window, first click the Customize button on the left. Click the little arrow beside the patches category. Choose packages for your computer. Choose Intel or AMD, not both. Choose SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Choose the Combo Update to get 10.4.6. Choose other packages only if you are sure your computer can use them. Indyaner
Thanks alot. This helps me. But now he say during the installation: (I try to translate it, because he promt it to me in my -german- language, so its not the exact quote) "Error by testing the CD. Shut down your Computer and check up the CD for Fingerprints or something and restart your PC" I do. But as I try it again. I skipped the CD Check because i cleaned up the CD very well. But at the installation he tell me that the installation because of an problem was canceld. Is it possible that I've burned the CD wrong? Is there something to look after? Now I realy need help... bye Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250110 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Burn the DVD at the slowest speed possible. If you have a different brand of media or a different type of media (dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw). Verify that your DVD drive has latest firmware. Verify that the lense in the DVD drive is clean. If all that fails, the iso may be corrupt and needs to be downloaded again. Indyaner
Damn. I've get it again from O1NK. Then I burned it again (Samsung SH-S162L, Verbatim DVD+R Disc, 4x). I also chekced the CD after burning with nero of errors. He (the JaS MacOS Installation) still tell me that the CD got error. Last Chance to get it runnig is to buy other discs. Any Ideas wich one? But I've to say that this cant be the error. My Samsung-Drive is "slow but thoroughly without any burningerrior". Mhhh... =/ Maybe I can burn it on the Weekend at a friend. bye Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250272 Share on other sites
Indyaner
HAHA! I burned it now on a DVD-R and the installation works fine. Wohooo But: Its running realy sloooooooow. Windows doint popup... they snail-up. Is it because I check the "X11"-Box in the Customation-Window at the installationmenu? How can I speed up my Hackintosh? ciao Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250691 Share on other sites
Rammjet
X11 won't affect anything. Chances are you will never run it or need it. What did you check in Customize? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=6330 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250694 Share on other sites
Indyaner
Your screenshot show the Version 10.4.8. But I cant use this new Version because its SEE3 only (Right?). so I use 10.4.6 from O!NK with these customations (I translate the modes in the red boxes) I've browsed thru the Forum to look for some threads about Resolution and Speed up but cant find useful infos. There were one Post from you where you list many Graphiccards (e,.g. x800). But this look very complex to me to work in the terminal (further more: I cant figure out what my su password is. I try my PW I added at the installation but he say "sorry", very unlucky =/ ) BTW: Thank you very much. Your help is very welcome. bye Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250724 Share on other sites
Rammjet
That is not the JaS 10.4.6 DVD, this is: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4249 Might want to consider adding the 10.4.4 SSE3 Kernel Terminal is often the only real way to get some things done. Your "su" password is the one you created at the installation. Perhaps you typed it wrong. The Terminal gives no feedback while typing the password - it doesn't do anything while you type it, so type slowly and carefully and then press Enter. Indyaner
Yeah, this screenshot from you look familiar. But I cant find this Version you show on the screenshot. My first disc (i burned some month ago) was exact the version you show on the screenshot. But now I have to redownload the Torrent and cant find this one again, so I took the one you see obove on my screenshot. Did the Green Deamon or O!NK still got the JaS Version of your screenshot? Can you link it me via PM (I got accout at booth tracker) Thanks. bye Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250740 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Did the Green Deamon or O!NK still got the JaS Version of your screenshot? Demon has JaS 10.4.6 Install DVD: Mac OS X 10.4.6 JaS Install DVD OSx86 for PCs Reseed JaS issued a patch for the iso that fixes a few things. You probably don't need it, but it might help. It is a PPF file that modifies the iso file to create a patched iso file. Perform it on a copy of the iso because the patcher doesn't make a copy. In the patch package, run the PPF-O-Matic and point it to the PPF file and to the copy of the iso (bin) file and patch. I find that the Windows version of PPF-O-Matic works best. File name of patch is: JaS OSx86 10.4.6 PPF1 Patch Reseed Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35197-after-install-loading-cycle-never-stops/#findComment-250842 Share on other sites

Indyaner
Wohooo... works fine! I wish there were a easy way to fix the rpoblem with the screenresolution.
