asdesoso
Good afternoon, In my HP EliteBook 2570P I had an Atheros AR9280 working well in Big Sur, but in Monterey is out totally, so I tried to buy this BCM943224HMS that I read it is compatible with Monterey, but after doing a lot of tries, I only could get it working through Big Sur, but with a modification, deleting into AirPortBrcmFixUp.kext the 94360 injector from Plugins folder. And after that in Big Sur 11.6.6 is working perfectly, but I read here https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/1929 that there is a problem with Monterey 12.1+ related with the BCM 94360, I tried a lot of kexts and modifications, so in the previous link, I tried some debug files, and the option "brcmfx-delay=(15000 | 27000 | 30000)". Nothing of that solves the problem. But I read that on Monterey 12.0.1 is working the card (94360), so I create a 12.0.1 installer, and after booting up the recovery, voila, the WiFi is working fine (my 943224HMS), but I also got working WiFi in Monterey 12.3.1 but only in the recovery, not in the 12.3.1 installed, here the system crash after reading the kext, and gets into a KP, and I stuck here. Thanks in advance. Cheers. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/351472-broadcom-bcm943224hms-not-working-on-monterey-1231/ Share on other sites
aben
Could you please share the source where you read that BCM943224HMS carrying device ID: 14e4:4353 is compatible with macOS Monterey? As far as I'm aware this card is natively supported only till macOS 10.14 Mojave. Also, this card in question is nowhere close in relation to the BCM94360 family series carrying device ID 14e4:43a0 which is still natively supported on macOS 12 so please refrain from assuming the same which can be misleading. The GitHub link to the issue you shared only concerns the BCM94360HMB model and is actually due to a bug (from Apple's end) present on macOS 12.1 and later where only this particular card appears to be getting initialized twice during boot causing the kernel panic hence the workaround to delay the init was added to AirportBrcmFixup. It's not meant to fix boot issues for non-compatible cards on macOS 12. If I were you, I'd stop wasting my time looking into getting this card to boot on macOS 12. It will never work because it lacks support. asdesoso
https://github.com/chris1111/HP-ProbookEliteBook-Package-Creator-Clover Recommand WIFI Wifi mini PCI Wifi mini PCI Broadcom BCM943224HMS I always follow the previous guide of chris1111, I read that he recommend this card for our HP Ivy Bridge laptops, and so, I bought this (14e4:4353), but it works up to 12.0.1, and after putting the AirPortBrcmFixUp.kext in 12.1+ results into a KP, so I understood the problem was the same as in the 94360 (14e4:43a0). The curious case is that with 12.3.1 recovery boots without any problem and WiFi at recovery works perfectly, but in a 12.3.1 installation that is the problem. Also I know that with 94360 (14e4:43a0) and 12.1+ there is a bug from Apple side. Thanks in advance. Cheers. aben
I see. Much appreciated for sharing the source. In this case, if seeking for the appropriate answers/solutions for this issue, the best suggested course of action would be to directly consult with the author of the repo by posting this issue under the issues tab of the respective repo. This approach, obviously, also increases your chances of getting the relevant support by having the author notified of the issues faced by users who rely on the repo for their hackintosh setups. Anyways, with regards to your issue on current macOS 12 release, I highly doubt AirportBrcmFixup can actually help any further since device ID 14e4:4353 is nowhere supported or included within the Airport drivers shipped with macOS 12, unless you are faking device ID OR passing compatibility value to match compatible device ids on macOS 12. Better to consult with the author of the repo for next steps. Good luck!
