AceMcLoven
Hi, I installed Big Sur and everything is working without any issue and have been able to do updates without any problem. I'm running Opencore 0.7.8 and I'm able to boot up into Big Sur and Big Sur installer just fine. I added the EFI and followed the Install Guide for upgrading from Github but I'm having an issue where I get stuck on this kernel panic. Does anyone know a solution or could help me out on fixing this issue please? System specs: Gigabyte X299 Designare i9-9980XE 128GB RAM 2TB SSD 970 EVO I have attached the EFI folder that works with Big Sur with my system and the image where I get stuck. I do want to mention, when I'm upgrading and starts in Big Sur everything goes smoothly and the machine reboots. It's after it reboots and it starts on "Macintosh HD" to finish the install where I get stuck. I get stuck here as well when I try to just boot into Monterey installer. Thank you in advance for the help. MaLd0n
try EFI 01.zip -Delete old EFI folder and paste new. Don't use merge files -Don't use Drag and Drop into EFI partition. Use Copy/Paste instead -Reset NVRAM one time - with OpenCore use entry "Reset Nvram" / with Clover use F11 key on boot screen 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350899-gigabyte-x299-i9-9980xe-radeon-vega-frontier-upgrade-from-big-sur-to-monterey-issue/#findComment-2777297 Share on other sites

AceMcLoven
I did as you mentioned, copy and pasted and reset NVRAM. I tried to boot into the Monterey install drive and got stuck here. I did use the same EFI folder to boot back to my Big Sur and was able to get back into my system. AceMcLoven
thanks for the reply. I did as you mentioned and just doubled checked inside EFI/Clover/ACPI/origin and looks like it worked. I used my Opencore Big Sur Installer EFI to boot back into my system. Attached is the updated folder. Ellybz
In case the EFI from @MaLd0n does not work. Here's my EFI for x299 Gigabyte proven to work with Monterey. Fill your platform infos before using it. Pretty straight forward. OpenCore 0.7.8 If you have a working USB 15 ports Kext replace it with mine. If not, try to boot Monterey with mine and replace it later. I removed all kexts pertaining to BT & WIFI. Do not use USB inject all or any other SSDTs. Also FYI The I210 on X299 GA does not work on Monterey. It will create KP. I suggest you. disconnect it. i219 works fine. Don't forget to Reset your NVRAM before installing Monterey. If this EFI does not work with your config update,( BS -> Monterey ) you might have to do a fresh install of Monterey & import later data from Big Sur. AceMcLoven
Okay, some good news. I was able to boot into Monterey Installer now! Thanks man. Took me a minute to get back into my system. My bluetooth keyboard stopped working even to get into the BIOS. It was working before, so had to look around the house for a spare keyboard thats not Bluetooth. Before doing a fresh install, will try to upgrade from Big Sur, see if this time, there are ho hiccups. I'll report back... AceMcLoven
Will the USBPorts.kext that I had done with Big Sur work with this, or do I need to do a new remap of the USB? Another question, I see the config file doesn't have much configuration, do I need to do anything to it? AceMcLoven
Thanks so much, I'll report back. Just finishing up my USB mapping. OpenCore Configurator is not displaying the config file the way it should. I ended up using PlistApp to edit the boot args. Can you tell me how to add the SSDT-UIAC.aml into config file through Plist edition please? I have added it to the patched folder in ACPI and also replaced the DSDT file in there with the one you just provided.
