HP Notebook 2000 with Synaptic Trackpad that acts like a mouse

Hi there.  Trying to resurrect my old notebook as a win/linux/mac system.  I have it mostly going with a few caveats.  I have a basic usb wifi card coming because the factory one isn't supported.  I'm working on getting the HD 3000 to work properly (the Chris1111 fix has crashed my system twice), but I haven't figured out how to make the trackpad work as a trackpad in Mojave.  Interestingly it works fine during installation using the VoodooPS2controller kext in clover/kexts/other, all the way through selecting which country I'm in.  It's only in the final installed mode that the trackpad won't double-tap as it should . . . basically it works like a two-button mouse.  Any ideas on how to fix that?

Thanks.
