RePete222
While attempting to install Big Sur on a flash drive (for use as an extra boot volume), when I reboot into the installer, it gets hung up at the Apple logo screen/progress bar, with the "Less than a minute remaining" message--staying there for hours and hours until I force a hard reboot. Where would the issue be logged, and what do I need to do to fix it? I don't see this particular symptom addressed in the Dortania guide, so asking for some guidance here. eSaF
You need to boot in verbose mode (boot args -v) to see exactly where it is hanging. Edited January 28, 2022 by eSaF

I'm doing that; this comes after the verbose mode messages stop and it goes to the Apple logo screen. I don't know if some other messages get logged in the background somewhere; that is what I'm asking for assistance finding.
eSaF
@RePete222 Remove personal data from the config.plist, compress the EFI Folder, post it here and someone will check and correct any errors for you.
