Hey, I was just told about Mac OSx86 from a friend, but before I install it, there's some things I'm worried about and want to know.

Firstly, I'm a Linux user, I run Fedora Core 6 and I'm very much happy with it.

Computer Specs:

IMD processor

1GB RAM

300GB HD (though only 260 GB of free space)

NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400]

Should there be any problems running OSx86 on this? (If you need any other specs, don't hesitate to ask)

Also, is OSx86 completely stable? I've heard some of these cracked OSs are sometimes very buggy, and I just want to make sure. But if it does work, iis it totally like a run-of-the-mill Mac, in that any and all Mac apps (compatible with the version in use, of course) will work on it?

Lastly, what FileSystem does OSx86 use by default, and which FSs does it support and is able to read? And are you able to partition the HD in the OSx86 installation? I'm really excited about using Mac, and any response/help is appreciated!

Thanks! :P

Processor - needs to be Pentium compatible with support for SSE2 or SSE3 instructions

Graphics - card is a bit old, will only get minimal VESA support - no graphic acceleration

Filesystems: OSX reads and writes HFS+ (Mac) and FAT32. It reads NTFS. An old plug-in allows it to read Ext2. It reads and writes to NFS.

It is quite stable once properly set up and with SSE3 processor and later versions of patched OSX will run virtually all OSX apps.

Alrighty, then :D for the help :D I hope to start using OSx86 soon.

BTW, where can I find a list of the Apps that come with OSx86 (versions 10.4.7 / 10.4.8)

:)

And I know this is a bit off-topic, but can any Nix users tell me how the performance of OSx86 compares with any major distros. (and I don't mean comparing it to Puppy Linux, lol. I think that would be pretty obvious)
