We're happy (and, frankly, relieved) to announce the immediate availability of SuperDuper v3.5 Beta 1: our first version to fully support Big Sur backups.

@HenryV

Today I've done my first SuperDuper backup from a Big Sur disk to another and all has worked very well.

Unlike Carbon Copy Cloner, the snapshot of the cloned system retains the usual Apple name, CCC modifies that name instead, although this does not seem to affect the proper functioning of the copy at all.

Did your Super Duper backup just clone Big Sur or did it change the UUID's for the Big Sur APFS volumes and give you a completely separate bootable backup?

The identifiers of the destination disk are different than those of the source disk. The backup is an exact clone in terms of files, users, etc., but as you say it's a completely separate bootable backup. I have used the complete backup option once and the smart backup option a second time. Aside from being beta, everything seems to be working fine.

Confirmed Big Sur 11.5 beta bootable media with different UUID.  Slow boot from USB backup device.

Confirmed Monterey beta 1 bootable media after backup with SuperDuper v3.5 beta3.  Booted from USB faster than v3.5 beta1 Big Sur backup.

Nice job and thanks to the devs at shirtpocket!
