[HOW TO] MacPro7,1 SMBIOS + OpenCore 0.6.9 + RestrictEvents.kext

There is a new version of RestrictEvents.kext 1.0.1 that removes warnings related to memory slots and avoids the need to configure Memory section in config.plist. Now you can use SMBIOS from MacPro7,1 without tweaking config.plist and with the Memory tab of About this Mac with the same appearance as in the rest of the Macs, without showing phantom slots that we saw previously with this SMBIOS.

Playing with these 2 parameters (RestrictEvents and Memory section of config.plist) we can see different aspects in the Memory tab of About this Mac, although the recommendation of the OpenCore's developers is to use only RestrictEvents without adding a Memory section into config.plist. If you have at least 4 memory modules, you can use custom memory instead of RestrictEvents. The use of RestrictEvents + custom memory is NOT recommended, one or the other, not both at the same time.

Or the correct custom memory for MacPro7,1 , or RestrictEvents, not both.

MacPro7,1 doesn't support installation two DIMM, use RestrictEvents.

Read https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/blob/master/Docs/Configuration.pdf

In a sample an example for MacPro7,1 installation four DIMM https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/blob/master/Docs/SampleCustom.plist

RestrictEvents is easier to use and you will have no phantom memory-slots.

Understood. Thanks for the info. Then the question is solved: "Or the correct custom memory for MacPro7,1 or RestrictEvents, not both".

In my case, as you say, RestrictEvents would be more useful because I have only 2 DIMM modules and MacPro7,1 expects there to be at least 4.
