by using the Jas reseed iso, system boot to a blue screen then stopped.

than i tried to connect a CRT displayer to the VGA port, it worked. but after i finished the installation and reboot , it stopped during loading the 8.8.1(i guess, 'cause the last message showed is loading 8.8.1 kernel.

i actually i try the different kernels and GMA950 driver and reinstalled for 3 times, and it seems all roads leads Rome.

after that i installed the HOTISO 10.4.6, i works quite well. i tried different methods with different kernels provided by those who successfully updated. the result was, they all come to the same error mentioned above. i disabled all the units i can in the BIOS, but it didn't help.

so, i just wonder, if anybody successfully updated to 8.8.1 kernel on the Thinkpad X60 or X60s.

i don't the machine is assembled with some special hardware.

is there anybody who can give me a hint? thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have 10.4.8 with Beta8 (8.8.1) running flawlessly on my Lenovo Thinkpad T60.

Looks like the same specs as yours except my screen is 1400x1050 max res.

All I did for the new kernel from semthex was to copy it in and reboot. Worked great.
