Using a Linux Driver?

Hey all,

I just switched my hackintosh back to windows xp because I need wireless, i never realized how often I used it. Anyway, I know for a fact that my wireless card works in Linux (mandriva and possibly others), if I find a linux driver, I can recompile it for mac os correct? It's called a "toshiba wireless lan" mini-pci card, it's an agere chipset.

If so, How do I do something like that?

I go to a friggin tech school, but no mac os users that know around here, all linux and windows.

Thanks all, any help is appreciated!

In order to compile it on OS X, you would basically have to completely re-write the driver. The ones for Linux have an enormous amount of dependencies that would be very difficult to implement. You could try looking for a BSD version of the driver, but there are no gaurantees that if you find it that it will even work.

John, Any luck with the driver? I got a Toshiba laptop, everything works fine (even the 1440x900 LCD) with 10.4.6 except for the wireless driver. It's a Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI card as you said.

Let me know.
