Black Screen of Death

I've recently installed OsX86 (This version to be specific: MacOSX_10.4.8DVD AMD SSE3 TEST 1). I started with a fresh install, using the osx disk utility to format and partition the drive. Installaion went smoothly with no error messages. However, when I turn my computer on, it does the POST (count's ram etc) then it boots to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the upper left hand corner. There are no error messages and the computer is unresponsive.

I have tried using the terminal to change the active partition to disk 0 partition 2 (As outlined here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...mple_Dual_Boot) and it didn't change anything.

Now I'm stumped. Any feedback would be much appreciated. TIA

Curt

Yes, I followed the wiki instructions (link in first post) which also explain how to determine which partition osx is installed on. I even tried switching the active partition to partitions 1-4 just in case I was doing something incorrectly.

I just performed a fresh install and took some photos of the process. Maybe someone can point out a mistake I'm making.

This time I got an error message when booting which says: "system config file ' /com.apple.boot.plist' not found" . I noticed other people with a similar problem bet there is no difinitive answer on how to solve the problem.

TIA,

Curt

"In the first picture, see the Options button near the bottom? Click it and select MBR."

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Here are a few more pics of me attempting to change the active boot partition. Take a look and let me know if you see any mistakes.

Thanks,

Curt
