Hi all

As per title, my Gigabyte Z390M Gaming does not have the option to disable serial port in BIOS versions F8 + and I don't want to use older version

Can anyone help guide me through disabling the serial port with another method, I gather it's possible with an SSDT but I am not experienced with those. If anyone can help me I will be most grateful, I'm not a total noob but just need to be pointed along the right path

Many thanks in anticipation

Hi, thanks again for help. Rather than replacing the whole EFI, is it the DSDT.aml in ACPI/Patched that will disable serial port? Can I add the DSDT to my existing EFI? Just easier with SMBIOS serial numbers etc. Would that work or other changes needed?

Hi, yes I know I can do that. I am keen to understand the processes though rather than copy paste. Is it the dsdt that will disable the serial port or is there something else that’s needed also?

thanks for your patience and helping me to understand more

yes

Sorry, another question. Would the DSDT file work in Open Core also? If so, do I put it under EFI/OC/ACPI?

I've attached my OC EFI in case you need to see it

u need extract one sendme with oc running

if u use dual boot...this is a problem, we need wait oc devs add this feature(drop edited tables in boot for others OS like windows, etc)

Again, thanks. I think I'll have to stick with Clover for now then as I need dual boot. I added the DSDT but not working and I think this may be as I've updated the mobo BIOS since I first spoke to you (it was working on the old BIOS). I used the RunMe app again and it's attached, for some reason IOReg wouldn't save so I saved manually and added to the Send Me folder. The DSDT you supplied did work on the old BIOS so I hope it's the new BIOS that's the issue and can be fixed with a new DSDT? Sorry to be a pain!
