Error during install, worked before once!

Hi all,

 

I installed catalina with dosdude's patcher and everything went smoothly.

 

I borked that install and now I try to install again, however 4min in the install I get the error "an error occurred while preparing the installation".

 

I tried different usb stick, redownloaded the install, checked the date as it sometimes throws this error, still no joy.

 

Can anyone help?

There's no need for that patcher on the stated platform. You can use a standard regular USB installer. All you'll need will be to remove or replace the vanilla telemetry PlugIn on 1st boot and this can be done by booting in single-user mode. Unfortunately, now when it comes to select the install drive, all volumes are ghosted and I get the message: you cannot install 10.15.4 on this computer.

 

The crazy thing is it worked no problem with dosdude's patch the first time. I have not changed anything in between, like dstdt or config.plist or anything

 Very strange.

Thank you, but it's not that; partition is already APFS. Dosdude's patched installer allows selection here as normal.

Well it looks it was dosdude's installation was good even with a couple of errors, so it looks to be ok again, with the telemetry plugin replacement at the end.

 

Now I'm wondering if I can fix the wake issue from sleep, monitor doesn't come on and there doesn't seem to be any activity on ssd either. Goes to sleep ok though.
