Hi!

I've been away from this forum for years as I haven't cared for a hackintosh build in years.

Two years ago I decided to have a go at it again. Out of laziness, I used tools from other websites to build the macOS installer. It never worked and I didn't know why.
After these few months and after moving further away from Paris and taking a new job I took a few weekends to go back at trying installing macOS in this new build.

Last weekend I found a tutorial suited for my mobo, hosted on one of these websites. Strangely enough the guy who made it didn't use the tools hosted by the website, instead he used the createinstallmedia command and installed clover on top of the USB stick.

I followed all the steps, downloaded all the required kexts (by googling them), and now I have a mostly fully working hackintosh running macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

Everything is working, all i had to do after installing was installing clover, then removing the EFI folder in the EFI partition, and replacing it with the one in the USB stick, except I have a minor issue that is I can't reboot into Catalina. I can boot any OS (including Catalina) and reboot to Windows or Ubuntu without any issues, except for rebooting into Catalina. If I do that, I'm getting the "Still waiting for root device" error and it simply won't boot. It does boot Catalina if the PC is shut down properly before.

If someone could please point me in the right direction, thanks in advance.

I am going to recommend you look into using OpenCore 0.5.8

get a spare usb stick to build the OC EFI partition

it still must be guid partitioned just like your usb installer

follow the guide, there is a sanity checker near the bottom of guide for each chipset, if a conflict between two use the guide settings

it has been moved but very thorough for most chipsets

i using OC since 0.5.7
You don’t to create the full installer just a guid partitioned usb so you can place your freshly created OC EFI in its efi partition

once you know your system working, move OC EFI to main system drive that has clover EFI
