Gehaktbal
Hi Guys, Been here for quite a while now and came very far with just the search function. But now, there is a problem I just can't solve. I'm using the 10.4.8 semthex kernel and somehow my Networkcards don't show up. Systemprofile says there are no cards installed, as I've tried 2 Realtek cards and 1 3com 3C905CX card. I downloaded and modified all of them kexts, installed 'em but somehow they refuse to be listed ANYWHERE in OS X. The problem is, with only 1 PCI port it's quite hard to test the cards on other ports. Specs: Celeron D 2,53 GHz. 512MB DDR Asus T2-PE1 barebone SB400, X200 Geforce 6600 PCIe The onboard LAN card is an Agere PCIe 10/100/1000 but so far haven't seen any drivers for that one either. Anyone got the solution to this problem? Thanx in advance guys!
Rammjet
If you had a previous version of OSX installed and any of your LAN cards was working with it, then go to that installation or install DVD and get the IONetworkingFamily.kext and put it into the Extensions folder. You should back up your existing one first. After adding the kext, do everything that you did when you installed the 10.4.8 kexts -> repair permissions, remove Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache, reboot. To get the file off the install DVD, you will need to use Pacifist. While in OSX, insert the install DVD. Open it and go to this directory: /System/Installation/Packages Look for the Intel Combo update and open it with Pacifist. The IONetworkingFamily.kext should be in the path (click the arrows): System -> Library -> Extensions. If you have already backed up your existing kext, then you can have Pacifist "Install" the kext for you.
