Copy below

defaults delete com.apple.preferences.softwareupdate LatestMajorOSSeenByUserBundleIdentifier && softwareupdate --list

paste into terminal

press enter

DONE!

@ all : is this 100% working for you? I still have the darn notifications regularly after wake from sleep!! Looks as if sleepwatcher + a launcher is required ..
