itsmeciao
Hi all. I am trying to install macOS Catalina on my HP laptop with a Sandy Bridge processor, currently running El Capitan & Yosemite with SMBIOS MacBookPro8,1. The USB installer installed the system, but now it fails to boot, and the last line shown in the verbose log is IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, am 0x0 . The laptop mounts a Sandy Bridge Core i7-2630QM with an HD3000, which is officially not supported by macOS Mojave and Catalina. I am therefore trying to use this patcher tool that enables older macs (among them the Sandy Bridge machines) to run Catalina. I downloaded and patched the installer, wrote it to an external USB pendrive, installed the latest Clover (v2.5k_r5099) on the pendrive's EFI partition and made the necessary changes to it (new patched DSDT, kexts, config.plist similar to the one I am running on El Capitan & Yosemite). After a little troubleshooting I got the USB installer to run and install in a new APFS partition on the disk, but what I have encountered for the first time is that the installer run in low VGA-res the entire time, never switching to the display's native resolution (1920x1080). After the second reboot I need to use the boot flag "-no_compat_check", in order to bypass the SMBIOS check. But, as said, it stops at the line IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, am 0x0 . I have tried a few suggestions around the web, including setting fake IDs as 0x0 for all devices, and 0x12345678 or 0x0 or nothing as fake ID for IntelGFX, but to no avail. I am attaching my Clover folders for both my working setup and the new Catalina installation media, along with a screen shot of the boot console halted. I really really hope that someone will know what is going on and how to fix this. Thank you.
