Help! Intel HD Graphics MacBook VRAM issue

Hi

I've run through the tutorials on increasing allocated VRAM for the Intel HD Graphics integrated GPU, and can't seem to get this to work. I have a Mid 2010 MBP, i've upgraded the system ram to 8gb, but the logic board has the infamous kernel panic issue with the Nvidia GPU.

I've run a patch that disables the Nvidia GPU, but now I want to increase the amount of allocated system RAM so that my laptop isn't crippled with the 288mb of VRAM on the Intel HD Graphics GPU. I want to run an application that requires 1024mb graphics.

I tried replacing the relevant Kexts but nothing happened. Is there a patch I can run, or alternatively does someone have a guide that could help me here, please?

Thanks very much!
