Can I delete a previously installed SSE3 patch?

As I've mentioned in a couple of other threads, my Dimension 8400 worked fine with the 10.4.7 install (JaS's) with the SSE2 patch, but when I re-installed with the SSE3 patch, I get a kernel panic on startup. When I run the setup disk again, I see that both the SSE2 and SSE3 patches are already installed -- I thought that it might install one over the other; shows what I know.

 

Is there any way to remove the SSE3 patch, maybe from the terminal accessible via the install disk? I'd hate to have to erase my whole OSX partition just to re-install an SSE2 version of OSX.
