frequent lockups

i am experiencing frequent system locks and it seems like it isn't one thing

that's doing it. sometimes when i click a link and the page starts to load,or

i could be browsing files and click my dock.

the reason i ask if it was bad sectors,is when i boot into single user mode

and /sbin/fsck -yf /

it quits with a sentence saying can't read some sectors.

and if it is my drive, how can i format a partition on my windows drive without

losing my data on my archival partition i.e. C:\windows D:\Storage

losing windows is not a concern.

if i try to use diskutility it wipes the whole drive,i just want to wipe c: drve

i would rather use that drive cause it's brand new
