unixb0y
Hello everybody. Today I bought a regular 3.5mm microphone and wanted to test it, but I get no signal. System preferences shows four outputs: Internal Speakers, Line Out, Line Out, Digital Out and two inputs: Line In, Line In. So they're there, but I get no signal. I also tried using VoodooHDA but after rebooting, I did not get any System Preferences entry for it and when opening a recording program, random noise came out of the "microphone" even when not attached to the PC at all. Thank you in advance! Dave Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/336950-how-to-get-line-in-working/ Share on other sites

Post details of identified Audio Codec and specify the layout you're using + method to get audio working (eg: patched AppleHDA, AppleALC). very often, in such cases, you simply need to select a different layout. How do I "specify a layout" or see what Audio Codec I need? I have stock AppleHDA and I do have the AppleALC kext. I didn't do a whole lot to get the audio working. unixb0y
The audio codec of my mainboard is: Realtek® S1220A. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/336950-how-to-get-line-in-working/#findComment-2654604 Share on other sites
unixb0y
I use the layout number 7, it's the only one that works. Weirdly, if I use the latest version of AppleALC, my audio output doesn't work. So I'll attach the one that does work. unixb0y
I just noticed that my 1.2.8 AppleALC has macosx10.14 in its info plist, whereas the 1.3.3 one has macosx10.13 in the DTSDKName field. Unfortunately, I can't find a 1.3.3 for macOS 10.14. I just tried various combinations, and it definitely only works with the attached kext file and layout number 7. In this case, audio out is shown in System Preferences and works, but Line in is shown and not working. unixb0y
I'm sorry, it seems to have been a hardware issue. Other mic works. But the volume is veeeery low. Could it be a software problem that can be solved by a config or something like that or rather not?
