The same version of vlc on jas 10.4.7 works perfect.

tryied several files with the same results.

Also got problem with flip for mac with quicktime, it didn't reads wmv video files, it worked perfectly on jas 10.4.7.

For the rest, the sistem seems to work good, no problem with itunes.

With early versions of the semthex 10.4.8 kernel, you had to indicate to the kernel what front side bus (fsb) speed your computer was running at. Otherwise it assumes your fsb is running at something like 200MHz (which must be wrong for your set up) and this leads to the whole os running at the wrong speed (including the clock). If your core2duo is not overclocked then you will need an fsb of 266, however I don't think this speed is an option in the semthex kernel included in the Jas dvd. Besides, even if it is an option, it is not really accurate enough as fsb never seems to be exactly an integer so your clock will still be off.

I recommend you find out where to get more recent versions of the kernel via irc as these autodetect your fsb accurately. Check out this thread which might help you find how to get on irc:

Actually, it looks like there is a script you can use to get the latest kernel. Details here:

Since you are using a core2duo you also have the option of using a DaemonES Kernel which is also good. Not sure where to get that now though. A search through these forums should help.

As for quicktime. Not sure about your specific problem, but I found that when I upgraded to 10.4.8, I had no image in quicktime player for any sort of video, only a white screen with sound playing. Upgrading to the latest quicktime via software update fixed this issue for me. Might be worth a try.

Good luck,

Fabcat
